TAGS Auto Registration Inc. is the leading provider of electronic
and manual automobile registration services for automobile dealers,
leasing companies, car rental agencies and other organizations with
multiple vehicles in the State of Hawaii. Our outstanding programs
have been proven to be effective cost cutting and time saving alternatives
to the traditional slow and wasteful “stand-in-line-and-wait”
DMV experience. Currently TAGS maintains a state-of-the-art, electronic
registration program for new cars, while providing efficient, cost
saving programs designed to streamline registration and related
procedures for used cars.
New Car Services
For new car registration and related services,
TAGS has pioneered and developed the Fleet Dealer Registration
(FDR) Program. This new, innovative program gives participating
fleet owners and dealers the ability to register new cars on-site,
utilizing interactive computer services provided by TAGS. These
registration services include the procurement of license plates
and emblems and allows for issuance of plates, emblems and registration
via computer by the dealer onsite.
To utilize this system, participating organizations enter into a
contractual arrangement with TAGS as the third party vendor who
operates the system. Under the system, the Division of Motor Vehicles,
Licensing and Permits issues license plates, emblems, and certificates
of registration directly to the participating organizations, while
the TAGS computer system controls the inventory and insures that
all plates and emblems are issued in consecutive order. All source
documents, along with the necessary payments, are submitted to the
DMV after processing is complete or within 10 days. The program
allows Rent-A-Car locations, new car dealers and other organizations
to license their vehicles without having to stand in line at the
Division of Motor Vehicles to process them, and to update these
transactions on-site, as necessary.
Used Car Services
TAGS has two programs, Direct Processing and Retail
Processing, that provide used car services that alleviate much of
the hassle of manual processing used car dealers traditionally experience.
Direct Processing
Under the Direct Processing program, TAGS provides the record keeping
and legwork necessary for used car dealerships to register and keep
track of their inventory. The dealer prepares all of the necessary
documents and signatures and submits them to TAGS with a TAGS transmittal
form. Forms and other paperwork requiring notarization or sign-on
from financial institutions or other lien holders are submitted
separately, along with a different transmittal form which is marked
accordingly.
TAGS picks up the documents from the dealer, enters
the information into its computer, and processes the paperwork with
the DMV. Any glaring errors spotted are reported to the dealer so
they can be corrected before the documents are delivered for processing.
TAGS prints a worksheet that accompanies all works submitted to
the DMV on which an identifying “Car Number” is indicated.
The number is keyed to display the type of transaction being made
and the documents being submitted. This allows TAGS to recall any
or all information pertaining to the transaction, including license
numbers and whether it is a transfer or duplicate title or registration.
The information can also be retrieved for any and all transactions
in the TAGS system using the car or stock Number for a particular
transaction.
Once the transaction is processed by the DMV,
the completed paperwork and any accompanying items, such as Titles,
Registrations, or Plates, are brought back to the TAGS office. Each
item is first checked to insure that the transaction has been done
according to the dealer’s specifications, and then recorded
in the TAGS database. A TAGS invoice for services, indicating all
DMV and/or TAGS fees incurred for the transaction, is generated,
and the entire package then delivered back to the dealership. The
dealer may, at his option, choose to pick up the paperwork at the
TAGS office.
Retail Processing
TAGS Retail Processing is much the same as the
Direct Processing program, with these important additional features:
- Using computer-generated labels, TAGS will mail plates, title
and/or registration directly to the dealer’s customers,
saving them the hassle of returning to the dealership to pick
up these items. Customers appreciate that their time and convenience
is important to the dealer. However, if the dealer prefers, TAGS
will bring the completed work back to dealership so the customer
can pick up these items there.
- TAGS will complete all of the necessary paperwork to complete
any transaction, making the job of the dealer’s Title Clerk
far more efficient. (Dealers may need to provide a Power of Attorney
form as necessary).
- TAGS double checks all work for errors. Anyone who has interacted
with the DMV knows that they can be very particular about how
forms are filled out and how documents are submitted. TAGS alleviates
the worry and concern over whether filings are accurate. And since
TAGS checks all forms and documents for accuracy, if for any reason
your work is rejected by the DMV, there will be no charge for
TAGS services.
Both the Direct Processing and Retail Processing
programs provide for paperwork Pickup at the dealer’s request.
There is no need for the dealer to fight traffic and waste valuable
time. Just call and TAGS will be right over, no matter how busy
we are. In addition, TAGS maintains an easily accessible, comprehensive
database for its clients that keep a record of all transactions
including:
- Every document received by TAGS for processing, including all
of the information pertaining to each and every transaction processed.
One call reveals what was sent out, and to who, even hours, days
and months after the sale.
- Complete records of when work was completed. Need to know when
that important title was issued? TAGS has a record of when it
was processed and delivered, regardless of whether it was mailed
or picked up.
- Information on any vehicle in the TAGS system, Need to know
the transfer number for that ’94 sedan processed in January?
Or who was the lienholder? TAGS can report anything you need to
know about any vehicle we processed.
- Comprehensive dealer reports:
- Safety Check Expiration
- Registration Expiration
These two reports track the inventory for you
Always know where the Title for any vehicle is located
For participating organizations using the TAGS
New Car and Used Car systems, the answers to these and many other
questions are only a phone call away.
